An invitation

We invite you to join us for a conversation on the way cultural events can change a city.

The explosive growth of festivals and biennales point to their increasing importance for cities as attractors of capital flow. Less understood, however, is the way these events begin to shape and direct changes in the social, spatial and political fabric of the city over time.

CHARLES RENFRO of Diller Scofidio + Renfro, New York and EVA FRANK I GILABERT of the Storefront for Art and Architecture, New York have been invited by the curatorial collective N to Sydney to participate in a critical discussion on the short-lived intensity of cultural events and their long-term impact on the city.

The Index Forum is a round table conversation supported by the School of Architecture and the School of Design at the University of Technology, Sydney. There will be six seats at the table; two will be occupied by Charles Renfro and Eva Franch, three by the curators. A sixth seat will be used to call upon a changing roster of guests to make contributions to the conversation at pertinent moments.
